Little Bundle...BIG Surprise!!!

WOW we had quite the weekend!! On Sunday I started having some contractions but not super regular, so finally I called the midwife and she told me to see how I felt in an hour and so I waited but they were only getting worse so we drove to the hospital and I kept thinking that they were gonna just send us home because I was thinking it was going to be a false alarm but sure enough I was at a five, and he was born about 2 hours after we got there. (I was just sure that we were there prematurely and they would send me home, I kept telling Josh let's just go home but good thing we stayed!) We named him Troy Joshua Hakes. He was 5 lbs 12oz and 19 inches. He was born on Sunday June 28th, 2009 at 3:09pm. (one day off to share his Birthday with his Grandma Hakes) Luckily I got an epidural and he is doing very well! I feel so blessed!! I delivered him at 35 weeks and the recovery is going well!
Unfortunately the camera date is off but I'm glad that at least we remembered to bring the camera! I fall more in love with this little guy everyday! It's crazy to think that I could still be pregnant for another month. I'm so grateful for all the help I have recieved especially my mom and mother-in-law who have helped out a ton!! We were definately plesently surprised with his arrival! We love you Troy!!

34 weeks and counting

I'm 34 weeks as of Saturday. I took a picture we could see how big I'm getting. My brother immediately said, "The camera makes you look smaller and I agree I'm feeling bigger then I feel the picture shows." I went to the Doctors today and it turns out that Baby Brother has turned and is now in the breech position. They said we won't start worrying about that til my next appointment in two weeks, although they did recommend lots of swimming! I guess the difference in gravity can make them go back to the right spot I guess. That's definately better then any alternitive. Hopefully he'll cooperate. The midwife said, "Of course he's a boy so he's not asking for any directions!" I got a kick out of that! I'll keep you posted on that!

The biggest thing lately that we've been up to is my brother, Karl's, wedding! He married a wonderful girl Leslie (Stokes) Kohler on June 13, 2009. We are so happy to have her in the family! I don't think I could ever have asked for a better sister-in-law! I'm having some camera issues but to get all the best pictures you can look at my very talented cousin's blog who did the wedding photos among other things and did an amazing job... http://conniesowards.blogspot.com/ I wanted to say to thanks to Connie, Karen and Barbara for all the help they were and all the awesome things they did for the wedding/reception! (And probably Ben too)

I'm in great need of some updating but I'm just gonna do a little bit tonight. These pictures are of Hailey and her sidewalk chalk which she loves! I think that it would never get old for her. I love it because by the time we're done she has it absolutely everywhere! And look at how flexible she is!!

Kite flying

On Monday this is what we did for FHE. I had a lot of catching up to do and a more fun weekend then usual that why so many updates at one time. We went to a park near by and Hailey flew a kite for the first time. Hailey loved it and did quite well at holding on to it. It was the prefect day for it too because the wind was just right and lately we've had a lot of nasty super windy days. It was a lot of fun!

Easter Weekend

I love Easter! I think spring is a fun time of year! And I love the peeps they remind me of my childhood! I will definitely continue that tradition. Our ward did an Easter egg hunt on Saturday which we were of course late to so we put Hailey in with the 3 and 4-year-olds egg hunt so we had to cheat a little so that she could get some eggs but she had fun any way. Then on Sunday we had my family over for dinner and another egg hunt where Hailey's basket could barely hold all the eggs so she definitely made up for the day before! She really liked it all though. The funny thing to me though is that she can't open the eggs by her self so she has to ask me every time so if I need her to eat lunch or do something before she has candy I can use it as a brib. Also on Easter Sunday she didn't get a nap so by the end of the day she was a wreck and kept getting "hurt." After everyone left she said her nose hurt and insisted on putting a band aid on it. We're kinda in a phase where we think a band aid will fix everything, maybe that phase lasts for a while because I think I remember thinking that in Elementary school!

Girls night

Hailey, Sadie, and Sydney

On Friday night Hailey went to see Elmo Live with some of her friends!

They had the best time! I never could have imagined how much they would love it! Hailey kept turning to me and saying more songs because she loved to dance/hop around to every song. It was a very well done show I thought! BTW it was way harder then you would think to get a picture of these super cute 2-year-olds! The next day Hailey kept saying, "Go see Elmo." It's too bad that they don't have that show more often. I guess we'll be looking for it again next year, if they have it.

Cutie Pie...

Okay lately we've kinda been potty training(I'm not too serious about it yet) and she has a stool to get up and down from the potty and sink. The other day she brought her stool which she calls "tool", from her bathroom to our bathroom and said "excuse me, my turn." She wanted a turn to stand in front of my sink to get ready and she insisted on holding my make up brush to put make up on. It was so cute. Well since then she has figured out that moving her stool to random locations can be rather helpful. She moved it next to the dresser and reached her hair ties and spilled them all over floor and said "uh, oh." Although I must say she did make a valient effort to clean them up. Hopefully this stool phase won't cause too much trouble.
